Defence Headquarters, 23 April. ’24 (RBDF): In recognition of Month of the Military Child, the artistic talents of military children were showcased at The Ministry of National Security on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Spearheaded by Force Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Fredricka King, wife of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, and the Welfare, Moral and Recreational Unit, the event celebrated the resilience and creativity of the young members of military families.
The theme of the art display, “For We Too Serve, Hearts Anchored at Home and Sea,” resonated deeply with attendees as it highlighted the unique experiences and challenges faced by military children. Through their artwork, the children expressed their emotions, experiences, and the profound connection they felt at home, while their love ones were out to sea.
Among those in attendance was the RBDF Executive Team, who were given insight into the initiative and had the opportunity to witness the talent and dedication of the young artists. The event served as a tender reminder of the sacrifices made by military families and the importance of supporting and nurturing the well-being of military children.
In addition, Force Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Fredricka King emphasized the importance of providing platforms for military children to express themselves and connect with their community. She stated, “Military children often face unique challenges, but through initiatives like this art display, we can empower them to share their experiences and foster a sense of belonging and pride in their identity.”
Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King expressed his gratitude to all involved in organizing the event and commended the young artists for their outstanding contributions. He reiterated the Defence Force’s commitment to supporting military families and ensuring the well-being of every member.
