Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Entry 32 and Woman Entry 6 recently celebrated their anniversary by giving back to the community with a food donation on Wednesday 14 April 2021.
As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic objective of strengthening relationships with stakeholders and the community at large, the combined entry recently joined forces with the residents.
The Entry which recently celebrated their 24th year of service decided that in celebration of their devotion to the country, they would continue to give back to the Bahamian community in the form of food items to the Bahamas Association for Social Health (B.A.S.H.), Chippingham and the Colby Home for Boys.
According to Leading Mechanic Tyrone Brown: “We, as an entry, felt it was fitting to do something that would benefit the larger community because there are many needs to be met, so we decided to donate parcels of food and other items to places that devote their efforts to serving others.”
Mr. Terry Miller, Executive Director for B.A.S.H., expressed his gratitude for the donation on behalf of his team. “We receive donations from time to time, but this gesture feels special, especially surrounding the pandemic where things are generally challenging for most persons. The items donated are specific to what is needed here and will have a positive impact. We deeply appreciate it.”
After wrapping up at their first venue, the Officers and Marines proceeded to a second site, the Colby House for Boys, Ridgeland Park, where they met with the public welfare center’s Administrator, Mr. Leonard Newton.
Mr. Newton in sharing his thanks, expressed how meaningful it was to the boys at the center and also to the team. “Many of them come to us lacking guidance, but this gesture lets them know that there are still people in the community who care about them. Even for us, the management and staff, it is a pleasure to have men and women who protect our nation’s borders looking inland to assist us by making this donation which will go a long way in helping us to help these young men.”
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to promote the Commander Defence Force’s strategic objective and the community at large while guarding our heritage.
