The Royal Bahamas Defence Force extends sincerest condolences to the family of the late former Sub Lieutenant Ralph Saunders, who passed away on Saturday 28 January 2023. Sub Lieutenant Saunders enlisted in the Defence Force in April 1984 and shortly thereafter was recommended for Officer Training at the Britannia Royal Navy College in Dartmouth, England. Upon completion of his training, he was assigned to the Squadron Department. Throughout his tenure in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, he served as the Navigational and Executive Officer aboard several Defence Force vessels, which included Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ships INAGUA, ELEUTHERA, and EDWARD WILLIAMS. His land base appointments included the Administration and Commando Squadron Departments. An individual who was considered a highly knowledgeable navigator and Satellite Communications expert, he resigned from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on October 2, 2000, after dedicating sixteen years of service. The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King extends sincerest condolences to the family members, loved ones, and friends of the late Sub Lieutenant Ralph Saunders on behalf himself, members of his Executive Command Team, Officers, Warrant Officers, Senior and Junior Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
