As part of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of developing a professional and high-performance workforce, twenty-seven (27) engineers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were recognized after completing their Technical Training Course during a graduation ceremony held on Monday, March 6, 2023, at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR.As a result of the 12-weeks training conducted at the Defence Force Base, the Marines have prepared themselves in the various technical specializations to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and service of RBDF Fleet and buildings. Led by Force Chief Petty Officer Marcello Charlow and Chief Petty Officer Renaldo Farquharson, they were trained in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Hull, Radio and Air Condition and Mechanical. The Base Engineering Department, which is an essential area of the force, responds to the great demands of operational deployment.During the brief graduation ceremony, the Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Glenn McPhee, brought principal remarks. As he congratulated the participants, he also expressed confidence that because of their training, the operational capabilities of the RBDF Fleet are in great hands, as these Marines are now better equipped with the necessary tools to enhance maximum productivity and efficiency while exemplifying love for the discipline, they were trained in.Also in attendance were the Fleet Maintenance Officer, Lieutenant Commander Gordon Roberts and Base Engineering Officer, Lieutenant Commander Nevada Bain. Receiving awards for Most Outstanding Class Participant were Marine Mechanic Tavaris Adderley (1st place), Able Woman Mechanic Riclisha Kelson (2nd place) and Marine Mechanic Javene Sweeting (3rd place).The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to the pursuit of excellence while Guarding Our Heritage.
