Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, was invited as a guest speaker at the Bahamas Rotary Club of Nassau on April 23, 2024.
The meeting which took place at the Nassau Yacht Club, offered a platform for Commodore King to share insight on key topics related to border protection and the ongoing efforts of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), and its initiatives, particularly our maritime domain and concerns surrounding the crisis in Haiti.
Accompanying Commodore King were his Aide De Camp, Commander Samantha Hart, Senior Lieutenant Julian Smith, and Command Warrant Officer, Force Chief Petty Officer Ramone Storr.
President of the Bahamas Rotary Club, Darren Bain, who extended the invitation – during the meeting – facilitated a productive question and answer session, allowing attendees to engage directly with Commodore King.
Questions were raised regarding the challenge of illegal migration and the tactics employed by the RBDF to ensure the security of territorial waters. Commodore King provided comprehensive responses, shedding light on the rigorous training regimens undertaken by RBDF Marines to uphold border integrity and maritime safety.
In recognition of his insightful discourse and valuable contributions, Commodore King was presented with a token of appreciation by the Club. The exchange underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between civic organizations like the Rotary Club and national defence agencies such as the RBDF in addressing critical issues affecting the Bahamas.
Commodore King expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the Rotary Club members and reaffirmed the RBDF’s commitment to protecting the nation’s interests and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
