Defence Headquarters, 07 FEB. ‘24 (RBDF): The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) conducted a Courtesy Call to engage in discussions with Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King at Defence Headquarters John F. Kennedy Drive, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
The primary objective of this significant gathering was to address crucial matters on maritime domain awareness and to explore potential avenues for collaboration between the BMA and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF).
Present at the meeting were representatives from the Bahamas Maritime Authority, Mr. Stephen Keenan, Deputy Director, along with Technical Officers Mr. Kenneth Carey and Mr. Larez Pinder.
The focal point of the discussions involved augmenting maritime intelligence capabilities to strengthen security in the region. The Bahamas Maritime Authority shared valuable insights on how it could assist the RBDF in gathering intelligence to support ship owners, thereby fostering a more secure maritime environment.
Furthermore, the meeting delved into potential training opportunities aimed at fortifying their collaborative efforts. The discussions underscored the shared commitment of the Bahamas Maritime Authority and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force to ensure the safety and security of maritime activities within Bahamian waters.
