Defence Headquarters, 6 May ‘24 (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Engineering Department recently made a significant donation to the Bahamas Association for Physically Disabled (BAPD) on May 3, 2023, reinforcing their commitment to bolstering essential community initiatives, particularly those benefitting the youth.

BAPD, a nonprofit organization, offers children and young people with special needs a range of services including daycare, special education, physical therapy, computer training, and speech therapy. Their mission is to cultivate self-esteem, enhance social skills, and promote independent living where possible.

Commander Nevada Bain, Base Engineering Officer, led a delegation comprising of section heads and junior rates and was given a tour of the BAPD facilities, by Director Linda Smith. This firsthand experience provided an awesome opportunity to see the valuable work that the BAPD does.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Commander Bain remarked, “This effort symbolizes more than just making contributions; it reflects the Defence Force’s commitment to raising awareness and bringing positive change within our communities. By empowering these organizations, we contribute to securing a better future for our country.”

Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force exemplifies its commitment to be a responsible corporate citizenship through a range of extensive outreach initiatives and projects.
