In recognizing and rewarding the efforts of excellence in the workplace consistent with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of talent management, two Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were recently recognized for their services.
On April 16th, 2021, Marine Seaman Ashtin Sands of the RBDF Military Police and Force Protection unit (MPFPU) was presented with a congratulatory letter from Captain Shawn Adderley, Acting Captain Coral Harbour, for his stellar performance. While on duty at the Carmichael Road Detention Center, he spotted a possible breach in the fence that safeguards detainees, and immediately alerted his superiors, who then took necessary precautions to rectify the problem. His vigilance and diligence did not go unnoticed, and he was cited for his actions.
In attendance at the presentation were Commander Natasha Miller, Commanding Officer MPFPU, and Force Chief Petty Officer Oral Wood, Warrant Officer for the unit.
On April 21, 2021, Leading Seaman Diego Thompson, a member of the RBDF Military Aide to Civilian Authority unit, was commended by a civilian for his outstanding performance whilst on duty. While at the Passport section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department, Ms. Cherrise Moss described his performance as “An understanding, yet, steadfast position” and “courteous and informative while demonstrating an astute and compassionate with the elderly and mothers.”
The Commander Defence Force, Officers, and Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force commend the two Marines for demonstrating professionalism and diligence whilst executing their duties, and the organization continues to move forward in the Pursuit of Excellence while Guarding our Heritage.
