As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic objective of strengthening relationships with stakeholders and the community at large as a socially corporate citizen, Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Transport Workshop invested time from their work schedules to community service for the Bahamas National Trust which concluded on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Bahamas National Trust Retreat, Village Road.Over the past few weeks, personnel from the subsection provided engine servicing, bay cleaning, computer diagnostics, and repairs of automotive engine-related defects for six (6) of the Bahamas National Trust’s vehicles within the capabilities of the RBDF Transport Workshop.The initiative which began 27th May 2022 also coincides with the Engineering Department Community Service Month and led up to National Automotive Service Professionals Day (a.k.a. World Mechanics Day) which is celebrated each year on June 12.The community service effort aimed to offer more than just a helping hand to the local community, but to give back and display their value in a real way, by utilizing their skills and knowledge acquired within the automotive field. It also was an opportunity to offer assistance to an organization that dedicates its efforts to causes related to the preservation and conservation of our country’s environment.At its conclusion on June 10, 2022, the Base Engineering Officer, Lieutenant Commander Nevada Bain, gave remarks as well as representatives from the Bahamas National Trust.A small team of representatives from the Engineering Department was in attendance along with the Transport Workshop Team of Technicians who participated in the community service.The RBDF Transport Workshop is a sub-section of the RBDF Engineering Department with the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of all RBDF assigned vehicles. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force understands its role in community building and will continue to make contributions wherever it can, for the betterment of our Bahamian society.
