A total of sixty-four (64) Cuban migrants were transported to New Providence this morning by Defence Force patrol craft HMBS KAMALAMEE after they were apprehended in Bahamian waters in a combined effort between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the United States Coast Guard.While on routine patrol, HMBS KAMALAMEE under the command of Lieutenant Thomas Thompson, discovered twenty-one (21) Cuban migrants on Elbow Cay. The remaining migrants were intercepted by the US Coast Guard and handed over to Defence Force officials yesterday. The total group consist of fifty-four (54) males, nine (9) females, and one (1) minor female. The Cubans who appeared to be in good health, were handed over to Immigration Officials upon arrival for further processing. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to remain vigilant and committed to “Guarding our Heritage”.
