Defence Headquarters, 01 Sep. ‘23 (RBDF): The Right Honorable Cynthia Pratt, CB, JP, was inducted as the twelfth Governor-General of The Bahamas on Friday, 1 September 2023 at Government House, Mount Fitzwilliam.
During the swearing in ceremony, Secretary to the Cabinet, Mrs. Nicole Campbell read the Royal Commission of Appointment, which was then signed by Prime Minister, the Honourable Phillip E. Davis, K.C., M.P. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice, the Honourable Sir. Ian R. Winder, Kt.
Prime Minister Davis delivered remarks stating his distinct pleasure in honoring a lady who has served in numerous capacities with dignity and grace. He also highlighted her life’s journey as a testament of the love and indomitable spirit of the Bahamian people, and expressed his confidence in her ability to perform her duties with distinction.
In response, Her Excellency thanked the Prime Minister who recommended her, and she also conveyed her appreciation to the Bahamian people for their support.
The ceremony concluded with an inspection of the Guard of Honor by the Governor General who was escorted by the Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Commander of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
