Defence Headquarters, 13 Aug. ‘23 (RBDF): The Minister of National Security, accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King and their respective spouses, along with the UK Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Keith Brewster and Lieutenant Commander Delvonne Duncombe (ADC), recently embarked on a significant journey to London.

The purpose of this delegation was to participate in the passing out ceremonies for four outstanding young officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, who successfully completed their comprehensive training at the esteemed Britannia Royal Navy College (BRNC) in Dartmouth, Devon, England.

The young officers, namely Midshipman Wellington Ramsey, Nyesha Ferguson, Adrian Miller, and Wayne Munroe, departed for England in January 2023 to undergo this rigorous training. BRNC, renowned for its hands-on seamanship training and comprehensive leadership development, provided the young officers with a holistic skill set crucial for their roles aboard modern warships. The training covered a wide array of disciplines, including navigation, ship handling, nuclear/biological/chemical defense, marine and electrical engineering, leadership skills, effective management as junior divisional officers, adept handling of unstructured and challenging situations, and the fortitude to thrive in demanding physical environments, essential for the challenges of maritime warfare.

During their stay in London, the delegation also engaged in high-level meetings with representatives from UK exports and finance, as well as the UK Defence and Exports office, further strengthening the bilateral relations between the Royal Bahamas and the United Kingdom.

The culmination of this remarkable journey was the graduation ceremony, which took place on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM. This event marked a significant milestone in the professional development of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s young officers, and it highlighted the enduring partnership between the two nations in the realm of defense and security.
