On Wednesday, November 23, His Majesty’s Bahamian Ship (HMBS) Bahamas, after rendezvousing with United States Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) William Flores on reports of a possible sunken vessel, discovered a total of eighty (80) migrants on Elbow Cay.Upon further investigation of Elbow Cay at approximately 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, HMBS Bahamas under the command of Lieutenant Commander Alexis Brown apprehended 18 Cuban migrants (15 males, 3 females) and 62 Haitian migrants comprising of thirty-eight (38) males, fourteen (14) females, four (4) minor males and six (6) minor females.HMBS Bahamas will transport the migrants to the Coral Harbour base today where they will be handed over to the Bahamas Department of Immigration for further processing.The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to enforce the strategic plans set forth by Commander Defence Force through joint efforts with its regional partners to defend the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.(RBDF photos by Marine Seaman Rickey Sealey)
