DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS 16 MAY. ‘23 (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force extends sincerest condolences to the family of the late Retired Deputy Commander Defence Force, Samuel Tony Evans, who passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Captain Evans enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force as a member of New Entry 4 on January 15, 1979 and would go onto lead a promising career until his retirement on October 4, 2019.
Upon completion of his initial training, he was assigned to the Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship ABACO where he served until 1980. He also served on Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ships INAGUA, SAMANA, AUSTIN SMITH, FORT FINCASTLE, YELLOW ELDER, and NASSAU.
On April 30, 1986, Evans successfully completed the Special Duties Officers Course at Britannia Naval College, Dartmouth, England. Throughout his career, he held various post, received numerous accolades, and rose to attain the appointment of Deputy Commander Defence Force. During his tenure, he also served as the SQUADRON COMMANDING OFFICER and OPERATIONS OFFICER.
The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King extends deepest sympathies to the family of the late Retired Deputy Commander Defence Force, Captain Samuel Evans on behalf of himself, members of his Executive Command Team, Officers, Warrant Officers, Senior Rates and Junior Rates and Veterans of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
