Defence Headquarters, September 3, ‘23 (RBDF): Ship’s company of British Royal Navy’s 152m Daring class Air Defence Destroyer, HMS DAUNTLESS, paid a visit to the RBDF’s Coral Harbour Base. This historic event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between our nations’ maritime forces.

The day commenced with a formal courtesy call upon Base Executive Officer and Officer’s Wardroom President, Commander Origin Deleveaux. This gathering set the tone for a day filled with camaraderie and mutual respect. Officers from the Squadron Department engaged in a warm exchange of pleasantries with the executive members from the Junior Rates Mess and Senior Rates Mess.

In keeping with naval traditions, the distinguished members of HMS Dauntless were graciously hosted to lunch in the Various Messes and the Officers Wardroom. This provided them with a unique opportunity to connect with and engage other dedicated members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our shared values and goals.

The visit culminated with a courtesy call on Captain Glenn McPhee, Captain of Coral Harbour. During this meeting, Captain McPhee was briefed on the intent, expectations, and overall experience of the visit aboard HMBS CORAL HARBOUR. In his response, Captain McPhee conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King, and reiterated the shared intention for future engagements aimed at further strengthening the bonds of camaraderie between the Officers, Noncommissioned Officers, and Junior Rates of HMBS Coral Harbour and HMS DAUNTLESS.

Leading the distinguished HMBS Dauntless team was Lieutenant Commander Gregory Padden, serving as the Air Warfare Officer on HMS DAUNTLESS. This memorable encounter stands as a testament to the enduring friendship and collaborative spirit between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the British Royal Navy. It reinforces our commitment to promoting regional security and cooperation, ensuring a safer and more secure maritime environment for all. The RBDF remains dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in guarding our heritage.
