In keeping with Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic vision of strengthening security cooperation relations, Captain Glenn McPhee and Commander Valentino Rolle attended the Symposium for Heads of Chinese, Latin American, and Caribbean Defence Universities and Institutes hosted at the International College of Defence Studies in Beijing, China, from June 28th through July 4th, 2023.

The symposium, under the theme “Future-Oriented China-LAC Cooperation in Military Education,” was organized by the National Defense University (NDU) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (CPLA) and sponsored by the International College of Defense Studies (ICDS).

It brought together 40 delegates from 21 countries, senior officers/officials, and representatives from Chinese institutions such as the National Defense University, National University of Defense Technology, Naval Command College, China Foreign Affairs University, and Beijing Police College.

The purpose of the symposium was to share best practices on the development and experience of military education. It allowed for a better understanding of China’s international military cooperation, foreign policy, and relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Captain McPhee and Commander Rolle took the opportunity to pay a Courtesy Call on The Bahamas Ambassador to China, Her Excellency Dr. Paulette Bethel, at The Bahamas Embassy in Beijing.
