A new group of Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Commando Squadron Department successfully completed a grueling seven-week Force Reconnaissance training which commenced on 12 September 2022, concluding on 24 October 2022. The course which was held at HMBS Coral Harbor Base, was designed to condition the body and mind of marines within the unit through various theoretical and practical phases; inclusive of weapons handling, land navigation, patrolling, amphibious ops, close range combat, physical training, range shooting, field survival, rope work, rappelling and reconnaissance. The past seven weeks was not an easy task, however having faced many hardships, the group managed to push through to the finish mark. The participants will add to the complement within the amphibious unit increasing its proficiency of infantry and investigative tactics.The Commando Squadron Unit serves as the military arm of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force responsible for national security, assisting in guarding the sovereignty of the Bahamas.The professionalism and personnel readiness of organizational members remains a command priority of the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King.(RBDF photos by Marine Seaman Rickey Sealy)
