Defence Headquarters, July 25 ‘23 (RBDF): At approximately 20:58hrs, RB02 while conducting a routine patrol in the area of Prince George Wharf, the crew encountered a 44ft Sea Ray cabin cruiser with one male individual on board. The officers promptly proceeded to initiate a stop-and-search operation of the vessel.

During the search, the officers discovered three suspicious boxes, tightly wrapped in tape, arousing suspicion. The male individual on board was duly cautioned and informed of his rights before being escorted to the Harbour Patrol Unit for further investigation.

Upon closer inspection of the suspicious boxes at the Harbour Patrol Unit, it was found that they contained a total of 61 packages of a suspicious substance, which was later confirmed to be cocaine. The estimated weight of the seized narcotics is approximately 153lbs, with an estimated street value of $1,220,000.00.

In light of this significant discovery, the Police Drug Enforcement Unit was notified, and the K9 unit and Crime Scenes Unit were requested to assist in processing the vessel.

A subsequent search of the male’s personal belongings led to the discovery of a black backpack containing $4,022.00 in US currency, which was seized as evidence.

At approximately 00:44hrs, the male individual was taken into police custody for further processing. The suspect will be subject to a comprehensive investigation regarding the possession and trafficking of illegal narcotics. Further inquiries and proceedings will be conducted by the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
