DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS, 29 MAR. ‘23 (RBDF): In maintaining the strategic intent of the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymon King to develop a high-performance and professional workforce focused on performance excellence and succession planning, Able Mechanic Valentino Edgecombe was awarded Marine of the Quarter by the RBDF Engineering Department for the period January to March 2023 at HMBS Coral Harbour on March 29, 2023.
Edgecombe enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on 10 January 2015 and was drafted to the Squadron Department upon completion of his New Entry Training. During his tenure in the Squadron Department, he served aboard the Dauntless P-44, HMBS Durward Knowles and HMBS A.D. Hanna. However, his interest led him to the Engineering Department in 2016 where he completed five months of technical training. Presently, he serves as an Engineer in the Transport Workshop.
His ability to go beyond the call of duty to ensure assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner, has earned him this prestigious recognition. He is presently seeking further training in the auto mechanic field to obtain his ASE Certification, which will further enhance the proficiencies of the RBDF Transport Workshop.
Making the official presentation was Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Glenn McPhee and Base Engineering Officer Lieutenant Commander Nevada Bain. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed in the pursuit of excellence while Guarding Our Heritage.
