Former Chief Petty Officer, Garnett Beneby met with Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King on 01 November 2022 at Defence Headquarters, John F. Kennedy Drive where he made a donation to the Royal Bahamas Defence.Also, in attendance was Deputy Commander Defence Force, Captain Shonedel Pinder, Command Staff and Policy and Strategy Officer, Captain Gregory Brown, Veterans Affairs Officer, Commander Judy McDonald, RBDF, Human Resource Officer, Senior Lieutenant Thora Gardiner, and Command Warrant, Force Chief Petty Officer Remone Storr. During the visit, Retired Chief Petty Officer Beneby, now CEO of Island Marine Electronics, donated six (6) Stable View Monoculars and expressed his desire to give back to the organization which was instrumental in his success as an entrepreneur. Garnet Beneby, a 30-year veteran, enlisted in the Defence Force as a member of Entry 2 in July 1977, serving briefly as a seaman before being drafted to the Engineering Department as a radio technician. In receiving the donations, Commodore King and his Executive team thanked retired Chief Petty Officer Beneby for his contribution to the organization and encouraged him to return to impart his knowledge and inspire budding Engineers towards entrepreneurship. Commodore King assured him that he is working toward making services more accessible to retirees and their families. This recent donation will go a long way in assisting the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in the execution of its mandate of guarding the heritage of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
