In keeping with the Commander Defence Force’s strategic objective for Decentralization, which also consists of providing spiritual guidance and welfare counseling to personnel on deployment, RBDF Chaplain, Apostle Raymond Wells accompanied Captain Glenn McPhee on a tour of the SOUTHERN COMMAND on Monday 28 February, 2022. Also accompanying him on the trip were the Welfare Officer Lieutenant Commander Elvis Bullard and Chief Petty Eunice Rolle. The visit’s objective was for Chaplain Wells to gain an appreciation for Commander Defence Force’s Decentralization strategy while allowing him to be introduced and offer spiritual guidance and welfare counseling as necessary. At HMBS Matthew Town, Inagua, they were welcomed by Lieutenant Commander Byron Brown, Base Executive Officer SOUTHERN COMMAND. At HMBS Gunn Point, Ragged Island, they were welcomed by Petty Officer Salathiel Lloyd. Chaplain Wells met with the Deployment Teams, provided a spiritual charge and listened to their concerns.The visit provided an opportunity to assess the morale and welfare of personnel, as well as to reinforce the Commander Defence Force’s Strategic Vision regarding decentralization. Chaplain Wells commended the officers and marines for their commitment and contributions towards the fulfilment of the RBDF’s mission, mandate and ultimately service to the Bahamian people.The HMBS Matthew Town Deployment Team is currently led by Chief Petty Officer Chryshann Percentie and Chief Petty Officer Acadia Smith is the Safe-Boat Coxswain, while the HMBS Gunn Point Deployment is currently led by Petty Officer Salathiel Lloyd, and Chief Petty Officer Bernard Miller is the Safe-Boat Coxswain. The tour also included reconnaissance patrol flights across the southeastern Bahamas to maintain a vigilant posture to guard and protect the territorial integrity of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
