The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) paid its final respects to the Late Petty Officer (Retired) Stewart Johnson, as he was laid to rest on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The church service was held at the Hillview Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Tonique Williams-Darling Highway and concluded at Woodlawn Gardens Cemetery, Soldier Road.
In attendance was Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe K.C., Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, his wife, Force Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Fredricka King, RBDF Executive Command Team, Officers, Marines and Members of the RBDF Veteran’s Association.
In tribute, Commodore King offered his condolences to the family and referenced his account of Petty Officer (Retired) Johnson. He described him as a man who was brave and passionate about his country, because he enlisted in the organization during a time where the country was still healing from the effects of the Flamingo Incident. He also highlighted his leadership and dedication to duty during his rewarding thirty-one (31) year career.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones as God provides them with the comfort they need as they go through this difficult time.
