Defence Headquarters, 02 JUN. ‘23. (RBDF): On Thursday, June 1, 2023, members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Southern Command apprehended twenty (20) migrants after being alerted of a possible migrant activity in the Southern Bahamas.
Acting on intelligence received, a RBDF safe boat attached to HMBS Matthew Town, coxswained by Chief Petty Officer Ricardo Miller, was dispatched to investigate the target of interest, Northeast of Great Inagua.
The RBDF safe boat later intercepted the migrant vessel 13 nautical miles off Little Inagua with twenty (20) migrants onboard (14 males, 4 females, and 2 children).The migrants were transported to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Maritime Base where they would then be processed and handed over to the Bahamas Department of Immigration for further processing.
