As Bahamians in New Providence gathered at Clifford Park, islands around the Commonwealth of The Bahamas also assembled in like manner to celebrate the 43rd Anniversary of Independence of the nation. Deep in the Southern Bahamas, members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force detached to HMBS Matthew Town assisted in the local celebrations, taking responsibility for the ceremonial raising of the flag this morning and providing musical accompaniment along with the residents of Inagua during their Junkanoo rush out. Inaguan celebrations continue on Monday with the all-day family fun day.
