The Royal Bahamas Defence Force showed up and showed out at the Urban Renewal Pineridge District’s 2nd Annual ‘Battle of the Fittest’ Community Event.

This event provides different communities with the opportunity to come together for friendly competition and fun and was hosted at the Pineridge Urban Renewal Community Centre.

Activities included the Seniors Egg ‘n’ Spoon Race, the Crab Walk Race, the ‘Race with the Waist’ and a friendly basketball game between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force arrived prepared and determined to defend its title from last year’s event. However, so did the newcomer team representing the Pineridge Community. That first game was an entertainingly competitive one, where the Pineridge Community team emerged victorious.

Despite this, the members of the Defence Force’s team rose to the occasion winning its game against the Police Force and retaining the title as ‘the fittest’.

While all of the participants were fairly competitive, the comradery and friendly interaction between both forces and members of the community was notable as those who watched from the sidelines cheered on.

Some of the communities represented included Pineridge, Marco City, Central Grand Bahama and Eight Mile Rock.

One of the primary objectives of the Urban Renewal initiative is to collaborate in partnerships to restore, revitalize and redevelop our communities.  The Royal Bahamas Defence Force was pleased to assist in such community building exercises and remain committed to partnering with other civic and law enforcement agencies towards creating a peaceful and a fit Bahamas.
