Able Mechanic Joshua Taylor and Marine Seaman Eduardo Rolle of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) were recognized for their outstanding performances and chosen as Marines of the Year on the Patrol Craft HMBS LIGNUM VITAE.
As the Electrical Technician on the craft, Able Mechanic Joshua Taylor has demonstrated his ability to assist in the efficient management of the mechanical section onboard the Ship. He has sailed consistently, particularly this year. Of note, he has acted as the Chief Mechanic and demonstrated his capacity to perform at that level. A competent and dedicated marine who makes a valuable contribution to the success of HMBS LIGNUM VITAE’s operational capability, Able Mechanic Taylor’s performance over the past year has earned him the distinction of “HMBS Lignum Vitae 2019 Engineer of the Year”.
As a Deck Hand, Marine Seaman Eduardo Rolle has demonstrated his capacity to assist the Bosun Mate in seamanship evolution. He has also sailed consistently throughout the year, and has also accepted the challenge to learn the role of a Radio Operator onboard, creating a double specialist. Marine Seaman Rolle has distinguished himself as one of the most hard-working seamen onboard, making a valuable contribution to the success of HMBS Lignum Vitae’s operational capability. His performance over the past nine months has earned him the distinction of “HMBS Lignum Vitae 2019 Seaman of the Year”.
Commanding Officer of the craft, Senior Lieutenant Glenn McPhee and the crew of Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship salute both men on a stellar year, as they continue to Guard the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
