Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) united for their Annual Church Service on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
As the Defence Force approaches its 44th anniversary, RBDF Officers, Senior Rates, and Junior Enlisted personnel donned their finest uniforms to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year. They paid homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and expressed gratitude to God for guiding the organization throughout its journey.
This year’s solemn service took place at Mount Nebo Baptist Church on Marshall Road, providing a sacred space for reflection and unity. The event welcomed attendees, including Deputy Prime Minister, The Honourable Chester Cooper, and the Minister of National Security, The Honourable Wayne Munroe, K.C.
Deputy Prime Minister Cooper also delivered remarks during the service, which concluded with a vibrant parade commencing at the church and concluding at S.C. McPherson Junior High School on Baillou Hill Road. The Parade Commander, Commander Nevada Bain, led the march, with the assistance of Lieutenant Commander Gladstone Moss.
The morning began with a poignant Wreath Laying Ceremony at HMBS Flamingo Memorial Park and Wall of Remembrance, Coral Harbour Base, where the tribute honored fallen marines and veterans of the RBDF for their bravery, service, and sacrifice, while also reflecting on significant historical events.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force expresses gratitude to God for His protection and guidance over the years. As the organization remains resolute in carrying out its mandate, it continues to uphold a strong tradition of service and commitment to the nation.
