Defence Headquarters, 11 JAN ‘24 (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force successfully signed a contract with Safe Boats International (SBI) for the procurement of four state-of-the-art Safeboats at the Ministry of National Security on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
In attendance at the signing ceremony were key dignitaries, including the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe, K.C., Commodore Raymond King, Executive Team Members, and SBI’s CEO Richard Schwarz and Director of Business, Scott Clayton.
The Minister of National Security, the Honourable Wayne Munroe K.C., emphasized the strategic significance of this investment in bolstering the country’s defense capabilities. He remarked, “These vessels represent a substantial investment in our country’s defense capabilities, and they will play a crucial role in enhancing our ability to meet the demand associated with the decentralization of our operations throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. In the face of consistent threats posed by transnational criminal networks, the importance of well-trained personnel, modern equipment and technology cannot be overstated in our quest to effectively protect peace and security.”
The RBDF is committed to enhancing maritime security and presence on the waters to safeguard the nation. Commodore Raymond King reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring the RBDF is not only manned but trained and developed, equipped with the necessary resources to defend the country’s borders.
The newly acquired Safeboats will contribute significantly to the RBDF’s operational capabilities, offering cutting-edge technology and reliability. SBI’s CEO also expressed pleasure to partner with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in this venture, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing top-tier maritime solutions for defence and security worldwide.
