The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King returned to his alma matter as a guest speaker for the Men of Honor Club Meeting at C.C. Sweeting Senior High School on 1 April 2022. Accompanying the Commodore was Aide de Camp, Lieutenant Commander Samantha Hart and Force Warrant, Force Chief Petty Officer Remone Storr. The event was facilitated by Vice Principal, Mr. Kevin Edgecombe, and Principal of the school, Mrs. Vanessa James-Rolle, brought welcoming remarks. The audience also included females from the Females Honor Club.This prestigious club was birthed out of the need to provide a positive outlet for young men at the Senior High School level. The major objective of the club is to ensure that the young men enrolled are equipped with the necessary skills, attitudes, and values to make a meaningful impact on society. Its current spectrum of advisors is key to the ongoing success of the program.The organization focuses on areas of public speaking, career readiness, etiquette, general knowledge, conflict resolution, literacy development, skills training, physical fitness, and spiritual development. The club, which was established in 2018, included founding members Mr. Kevin Edgecombe, Dr. Zelrona Mackey, Mr. William Kajokaya, Mr. Chuck Smith and Ms. Ayeola Culmer. In his keynote address, Commodore King spoke to the challenges he faced along his educational journey as a student attending the institution, to when he entered the workforce. He shared with the students how he was able to overcome obstacles and propel himself to the highest office within the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. While attributing his success to the foundation that helped him to remain disciplined, determined, and resilient in his goals, Commodore King reminded the students that although every accomplishment comes with difficulty, they must remain steadfast in the face of adversity. On completion of his visit, Commodore King was presented with a token of appreciation on behalf of the principal, faculty, staff, and students at the school.
