In keeping with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of developing a professional and high-performance workforce focused on excellence, Marines from the SOUTHERN COMMAND Team were awarded for their continued performance of excellence.During a brief ceremony at Defence Headquarters, John F. Kennedy Drive on Thursday March 16, Commodore King and Commanding Officer, SOUTHERN COMMAND, Captain Michael Hanna, presented five Marines with tokens of appreciation for their extraordinary service and outstanding efforts rendered while on deployment in the Southern Bahamas in operational arrest, maintenance of equipment, leadership and mentorship.Receiving awards were Force Chief Petty Officer Wilbert Gilbert, Force Chief Petty Officer Stephen Farquharson, Chief Petty Officer Wayde Watson, Petty Officer La’Rand Smith and Able Seaman. Also in attendance at the ceremony was Lieutenant Commander Byron Brown, Base Executive Officer, SOUTHERN COMMAND.As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to encompass duties that call for a career of sacrifice, the organization says ‘Bravo Zulu’ to all Officers and Marines who continue to guard the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
