The Royal Bahamas Defence Force recently assisted Samaritan’s Purse in setting up a 20-bed tent hospital at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
In a collaboration effort with the force’s Crisis Risk Management Unit and the Disaster Risk Management Unit, and in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Public Hospital Authority, the tent hospital will assist in the management of COVID-19 cases.
The tents will be utilized for the storage of medical supplies, as well as a Trauma Bay and for the hospital’s medical staff. Fully equipped with medical equipment, the team from Samaritan’s Purse will assist in providing medical care for patients and teaching personnel from PMH various aspects of providing COVID care.
Samaritan’s Purse, which is a non-governmental organization, have provided assistance during the passage. The hospital tent is located in the hospital’s parking lot the rear of the PMH Blood Bank.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to assist other agencies during this COVID pandemic, as they continue to guard the territorial integrity of The Bahamas.
