Defence Headquarters, 3 August. ‘23 (RBDF): Five Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Supply Department met with Captain Coral Harbour, during a briefing at HMBS Coral Harbour upon receiving recognition for their invaluable service rendered at the Princess Margaret Hospital following a critical staff shortage during the period of June 23 to 27, 2023.

Already accustomed to handling meal services for large numbers of persons, the military cooks were able to provide their expertise on large-scale food preparation and logistics, efficiently managing the demand for food within the hospital setting. Led by Force Chief Petty Officer Kingsley Smith, the team’s dedication and hard work allowed them to prepare approximately 1000 meals per day for staff members, patients and civilians, making their efforts even more significant in supporting the well-being and functioning of the hospital during a challenging time.

Captain Glenn McPhee in his address noted that the team’s selfless acts of service and commitment to helping others was truly commendable and deserving of recognition as it served as an inspiration to others and exemplified the core values of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. Assistant Base Supply Officer, Senior Lieutenant Natasha Woods also expressed kudos to the Marines and Force Chief Petty Officer Kingsley Smith for demonstrating exceptional leadership during the operation.

This collaboration is an example of how diverse organizations can cooperate during times of crisis to support each other and ensure essential services are delivered to those in need. Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, acts like this represent the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s commitment toward strengthening community relations and positively affecting individuals as a responsible corporate citizen.
