Defence Headquarters, 11 Aug. ‘23 (RBDF): Raymond Wells, Force Chaplain, in collaboration with the team from The Frontline Chaplaincy Inc, has unveiled a visionary program designed to bolster the support structure within the Defence Force. This groundbreaking initiative that entails comprehensive training for a diverse group of representatives from the RBDF, equipping them to serve as Chaplain Substitutes and offer crucial aid in Chaplaincy duties.
In his welcome address, Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Glenn McPhee Coral placed heavy emphasis on the dedication, hard work, and selfless sacrifices of Defence Force personnel on behalf of the nation. He particularly highlighted the challenges they face, including the aftermath of failed marriages, family crises, grief, distress, substance abuse, financial hardships, and mental or physiological concerns.
Recognizing the pivotal role that Chaplains play in the well-being of armed forces, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is unwavering in its commitment to foster a more comprehensive and responsive support system. Training capable individuals from various departments to act as Chaplains serves as a force multiplier. As the organization shifts its focus towards decentralized operations, this strategy ensures that the spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs of personnel are addressed, even in the absence of a dedicated Chaplain.
This strategic initiative underscores our resolute dedication to the welfare of our members.
