A thumbs up for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Waves, who had a great season, but came up short in the championship round of the Bahamas Government Departmental Softball Association (BGDSA) over the weekend. The team coached by Force Chief Petty Officer Thomas Williams, advanced to the championships after getting past the Police and Bahamas Department of Corrections team in the playoff rounds. Eventually the Waves lost against the Finance Invaders, with a final score of 15-4. “I’m quite pleased with the performance of the girls this year,” said Coach Williams. “Nobody expected us to even make the playoffs, because we started slow, but with the addition of new faces within the last two squads, the team gained momentum. Kudos to the Invaders for a great season, but with a combination of veterans and rookies, this team will be competitive for the next few years.” The Lady Waves are no stranger to winning, having won it all in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The Finance Invaders were the reigning champs, having won the championship in 2019 prior to the pandemic. The Commander Defence Force Commodore Dr. Raymond King, Officers and Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force are very proud of the team and look forward to greater success from them.
