Over the weekend, Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King along with others were honoured during the C. C. Sweeting Senior High School Alumni Gala Ball.The event which took place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, celebrated C. C. Sweeting’s 50th Anniversary and was held at SuperClubs Breezes, Cable Beach. During the event, three (3) persons in total were honoured for their rise to significant leadership roles and contributions in Bahamian society.The honourees included, His Excellency A. Leonard Archer, former Principal, who founded the C.C. Sweeting Senior High School, Bahamas High Commissioner to the English-Speaking Caribbean States, and Ambassador to the Republic of Suriname, Mr. Clayton Fernander QPM, current Commissioner of Police and Dr. Raymond King EdD, current Commander Defence Force.Other special honoured guests included Deputy to the Governor General, the Honourable Cynthia “Mother” Pratt, Founding President of the Rotary Club of New Providence, Mr. Raymond Winder, Dr. Deborah Nubirth and Captain Kinson Deleveaux.Along with the keynote speaker, Mr. Walt Saunders, each of the honourees in attendance were granted the opportunity to speak. In Commodore King’s remarks, he was very candid about his life’s experience growing up and how C.C. Sweeting has played an integral role in shaping him into the person he is today. He also reminded persons that despite their seeming disadvantages in life, there will be opportunities awaiting, which can elevate them to unexpected heights. The event was preceded by a Silent Auction as a fundraising effort to receive donations towards the further development of their alma mater, C. C. Sweeting High School, ensuring that the school’s legacy, and Cobra Pride continues to ‘Strike for Excellence’.The Royal Bahamas Defence Force congratulates Commodore King on being one of the honourees at the 50th Anniversary Gala Ball.
