Defence Headquarters, 30 JUL ‘23 (RBDF): On Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at Goodman’s Bay, Nassau, Bahamas, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) hosted its annual Fun Run Walk under the theme “Forging Ahead For A Stronger Bahamas.” This significant event coincided with the Bahamas’ 50th Independence Celebrations and received substantial support from various segments of Bahamian society. Distinguished guests in attendance included The Honorable Wayne Munroe K.C, Minister of National Security, accompanied by his wife, The Honorable Pia Glover-Rolle, Minister of State for the Public Service, as well as representatives from the United States and Chinese Embassies, alongside members of the RBDF’s Executive Leadership Team.
The Fun Run Walk was organized and facilitated by the Fun, Run, Walk Committee under the chairmanship of Commander Valentino Rolle, with the invaluable support of his training staff. Our lead sponsor, Fidelity Bank, showed their continual support by becoming the title sponsor for the third time. Over five hundred (500+) participants, comprising both RBDF personnel and civilians, enthusiastically partook in the highly competitive 6-mile run and 3-mile walk. The event commenced punctually at 6 am, with the Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO) actively involved in the event’s officiating.
Participants in this year’s event showcased a diverse age range, spanning from 5 to 65 years old. The event’s culmination featured an array of introductory services, including glucose and blood pressure testing, invigorating massages, onboarding for insurance services, a captivating fitness demonstration, invigorating aerobics session, and light refreshments. In recognition of their outstanding achievements, awards were presented to participants in their respective categories.
Commodore King extends heartfelt gratitude to all the generous sponsors and dedicated collaborators who made this event possible. A special acknowledgment goes to Fidelity Bank, Colina Insurance, Oaktree Medical, Thompson Trading, and the Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO) for their invaluable support and contributions.
