In a combined effort between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), and the US Coast Guard, a vessel with suspected migrants was intercepted in Bahamian waters on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.The joint effort led to sixty-two (62) migrants including (33) adult males, nine (9) adult females, twenty (20) minors inclusive of three (3) infants being intercepted near Cay Santo Domingo by the US Coast Guard Cutter, USCGC Reliance on behalf of the Defence Force.The USCG Cutter rendezvoused with Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship (HMBS) Lawrence Major, under the command of Commander Omarv Saunders and handed over the migrants, who were transported to Matthew Town, Inagua for medical assessment and further processing.They are expected to arrive in the capital on Saturday, April 30, 2022.(Photo Courtesy of US Coast Guard)
